Sovereign of the Seas the 17th Century Navy's finest ship. Commissioned by King Charles I, she was the first ever warship to have three full gun decks, carrying 102 high-tech bronze cannon. Her size and costs were unprecedented - the gilding cost the same as the whole hull of a two-deck ship! - and she later proved herself unbeatable in battle. Our model has amazing detail for the price, with authentic (wood) decks, rigging and cotton sails. Length 17", height is 14.5". Supplied ready for display and comes with a history leaflet.

Sovereign model

This model is generally quite good. I found that one of the cannons on the port side was missing but apart from that everything was fine. I have followed up thedetails of this ships description in books that I possess. As a result of this Ihave tweaked one or two details of the model to more accurately depict the description. This was quite easy to do after obtaining black and gold model paint from a local model shop. For instance the dutch described her as the golden devilas she was black and gold. I therefore added more black background to the sternwhich brought out the figures in gold to more prominence, also the lower part of the prow received the same treatment and had the same effect. Each of the cannon barrel ends looked better when enhanced with the same black touching up.You need very small model paint brushes to do this, also purchased from the modelshop. I am now very pleased and satisfied with the end result and the shipmakes a very fine display.
