Superb camera!

Had one since June, with the standard kit lens. Optics superb, very sharp. Colours great straight from the camera. No fringing,Image stabilisation works great (1-2 stops extra). Dust filter works great - never seen any dust on any images.Handling great - just the right feel, weight and balance. Very light weight with kit lens.Images slightly soft, easily fixed by setting the camera to Low Noise Filter and Sharpening to -1 to get the best RAW images.Aperture of f3.5-f5.6 not as wide as some (comparable to other kit lenses) - can get a wider standard zoom but more expensive. The Image Stabilisation lets you take shots at lower shutter speed though. Build quality good, except the card cover appears flimsy.

I've been an Olympus user for a few years now having originally purchased the E-510's previous incarnation the E-500.The 510 only builds on a great D-SLR adding in camera image stabilisation, another 2megapixels and an amazingly compact 14-42mm zoom lens with optics just as clear as the larger version that came before it.The in body dust reduction is an amazing system and has never failed to ensure my pictures come out clear of dust marks despite my being haphazard with lens changes!One thing Olympus really knows how to make are great optics and for the weight and the size the kit lens can hardly be beaten - expect by Olympus' own professional grade upgrade lenses. Add to this the great colour reproduction and built in highlight and shadow metering and this is a camera you can never get bored of.

Good camera, slow Olympus customer service

I bought a twin lens set with the Olympus E-510 digital SLR camera body and it produces excellent photos at a very good price.However, 14 months in and the LCD failed. Thankfully there is a 2 year European warranty which I had to rely upon but this is my point, you need to send it away at your cost and it has been gone for almost 1 month and I still don't have it back. They don't acknowledge safe receipt until 2 weeks later and there is no further correspondence. I had to do all the chasing. Great product let down by sketchy customer service handling.
