Great DECT headset!

I needed a replacement for my Plantronics C65 - the signal of the C65 wasn't quite strong enough to reach through a few walls down to the phone base-station downstairs at home.I considered the C70 and this one - both in a similar price range. I went for this one because I like the over-the-head type of headset rather than the over-the-ear type (I like to walk around while I'm on the phone, and the over-the-head type is more stable). Also, this one has an instant mute rather than a three-second button-press for the C70 - a must if you do a lot of conference calls.This is a very comfortable headset. The sound is very clear and strong compared to my old C65 and the range is absolutely fine - better than the C65.Set-up was a doddle - just charge it up until the charge light goes out (took about 5 hours), press in the mute button for a few seconds then do the phone base-station thing (for my Philips it was pressing a button on the base station for a few seconds) and they connected absolutely perfectly.Highly recommended - great sound, easy to set-up and very comfortable.

Great product but poor range

I rarely write reviews but wanted to share my mixed experience of this headset with others that may be thinking of purchasing it. I read all the reviews on this and the cheaper C65, and actually ordered both to compare and try.Firstly I must say that is is a very good quality piece of kit - build quality, sound quality, and comfort are all superb - much better than the C65. Yes it is a bit bulkier, but as my primary purpose for buying this was lengthy conference calls with work, this all made it worth it. The buttons are easy to access and logically laid out, and the charger holds it firmly when not required.I had no problem pairing this to a Panasonic or Siemens Gigaset DECT basestation, and in fact with both of these you do not need to do any of the "transferring of a call from a handset to the headset in order to dial out". Both allow you to just press the Answer/Call End button on the headset and join the line instantly.But where this headset (and the C65) failed for me was on the range. I live in quite a long house with thick walls, and the DECT basestation is in a room at one end of the hallway and my office is at the other end of the hallway. The DECT Handsets show good signal in the office (2-3 bars out of a max of 3) but the headsets were beeping as going out of range well before I managed to get into the office. I could still take a call and it would not drop out nor break up, but the headset does a double beep every 10-15 seconds when it is going out of range to let you know - which during a conference call not only makes you miss some things that are said, but it was reported that my voice actually cut out when these beeps were happening.I was disappointed to have to return both headsets (luckily the Amazon returns policy is excellent, as we all know) espectially this one, as previously mentioned, it is a great bit of kit. That said I have replaced it with a Jabra GN9120DG. It's not quite as comfortable as the C351N and does not have the quality of earpiece/crisp sound (I am not saying it is poor - far from it - and had I not tested the C351N first I would have been saying it was excellent!), but where it loses points in this department it gains massively in the range department. Not only does it get to my office without any range warnings, but covers every corner of the house! The battery also only requires 20 mins for a "quick charge" and 1 hr 30 for a full charge! Excellent if you forget to put it on overnight and need it early the next morning!If you are in the market for a good headset and don't live in a house with thick walls or need huge range, then I am sure the C351N would be a great purchase for you. If on the otherhand you are struggling on the range front, check out the Jabra haedset G N Netcom Jabra GN9120DG Wireless Headset for Cordless DECT Phones - I am sure you will not be disappointed!

Excellent Headset

Have a Panasonic KX-TG809 DECT answering system with two handsets. I work from home and make/take a lot of hour plus calls. I wanted a better solution than hands free speaker calling from the handset.I settled on this model after speaking with Plantronics customer service dept. They were very helpful. They don't sell direct to the public, but they pointed out the units that would be compatible with my system.I've been using it for 2 weeks now and couldn't be happier, since:1) The set up with my phone system was very easy - no resetting passcodes required2) The sound quality is much better than the Panasonic handsets themselves - both from my perspective but also the people I am dialling3) The headset is extremely comfortable to wear for extended periods of timeI don't know why I didn't buy this or similar product years ago.
