5Mac - always has been, always will be the best
By Tom_Cat
I started using these iMac's in college as part of my Graphics Art course, and to be honest, I don't think i've ever used such a user-friendly operating system. Almost 3 years on and i'm planning on a getting a Mac book - not just for work on the move, but to replace my home desktop (which is Windows)Apple have only ever failed in one department. Letting people why Mac's are better than Windows. This had led people to scepticality and rumours..."Mac's are so over-exspensive for no difference in quality."Indeed, Apple like to mark up prices on their products. However, not all this is down to the simple little picture of an apple. Mac's are built to last - they represent the best possible Remington Titanium shaver a man could buy. A Windows based machine, is a cheap plastic Gillette Mach 3 Turbo Stealth.. blah blah blah...The iMac is made from super tough perspex style plastic (it's actually better than perspex) and is simply lavished in quality. The CD drive is housed stealthily on the right side of the monitor machine, while the back has one simple line/row of sockets. And remember, this is simplicity in its truest form - the mouse (just one click-button remember) plugs into the keyboard... the keyboard plugs into the back of the machine. Once you've put in the power cable, you ready to go!"Mac's aren't compatible with lots of Windows Programs/files."For those new to the world of Apple, then yes, it is a fact that Windows and Macintosh both work differently, and so you can't run a Windows CD in a Mac.However...This does not mean that Windows programs aren't made for Mac. People are so blind they don't see that, in fact, even Microsoft Office is available for the Mac. And its more modern! What's more, their are programs designed for Mac that aren't for Windows. With regards to file compatibility, if you have the same program installed on a Windows machine (lets say.. a Microsoft Word letter) and you open it on a Mac (with Microsoft Office installed) then yes, it will open!Obviously, it is a fact that so much more software is produced for Microsoft. Who on earth said it was all useful though?"Mac's are stupid and hard to use."Oh, I think all Mac users will have heard this whopper. Most simple minded believe that, even though they've never used one, Mac's are hard to use. Why? Maybe because their friend couldn't "get used to it". Hmmm...Mac's are the simplest, most efficient, and user friendly OS available on todays market. And for about 9 years (since the current style OS was introduced) it always has been. Apple has been 'years' ahead of Microsoft - they originally developed the idea of multi-tasking, and user interfaces. The current iMac boasts simplicity like never before. No icons on your desktop. No silly security messages. No tabs and options you will never use. The Mac has one bar at the bottom which houses all your favourite programmes, and you're drive tab on the right. That's it.Mac's have always been the safest computers to buy too. Virus programs these day's are aimed towards Windows - Mac's have next to no chance of even encountering a virus. No need for precautions means no silly security programs, and no system slow down when you suddenly click on something that 'may' be 'comprimising to your computer' (ahh, those old days of McAffee..)But I haven't even started talking about this product yet. Or have I??... The thing with Apple Mac's is that they are all part of one big family. What you notice about one Mac, will in turn, compliment one of it's brothers.Upon using this iMac for the first time, you may notice that, with regards to value for money, you're starting to get more than you bargained for as time goes on. The integrated camera, microphone, speakers, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi are just some of the little surprises you'll notice. You don't often see a Windows based computer have all that in one package now, do we?.. The machine will pay itself off though for all the trouble free times you'll have, and all the helpful integrated software. Theirs little need to buy additional programs or accessory's - everything you need is in the box!Performance wise, their is a rule with Mac's - times the processor by 2. Why, you're probably wondering? The way a Mac works is different - Appl work closely with IBM and other companies to design these machines, and so the performance always out-weighs the figures on paper. Remember also, that the Mac's available will always be high performance. The only difference that sets the price apart is just how performance you want!I think i've said enough. I love Mac's, and will never cease to use them. For the sake of the family, I do have to put up with a Windows machine for now, but no doubt soon I'm saving up for a MacBook, and can prove to as many people as possible why Mac's are superior.

5A fantastic product, well worth the price
By M. Jackson
Unlike some of the reviews here I have actually used and owned an imac. I have used Macs and Windows for some time and have found Apples products beautiful to use and to work with, minimal set-up time ensures maximum time for creativity. I personally would not use Linux as an alternative unless you are a computer expert, with a lot of time to spare to get things up and running. System wide compatibility, the ability to open most Windows files and sheer ease of use make this winner. Also if you compare spec for spec with any of the higher quality PC manufacturers (Sony, Dell, HP) then you will find that this as with all mac is reasonably priced. Also having spell check is great in your browser!

5Plan B
By Don Pelayo
I had PCs for 10 years and I become used to crashes , delays , viruses etc.In the end I decided to invest in a Imac and try a new system , are they any better ? Oh boy they are !The looks are a given and the machine is a focal point in the study room is very simple to install , not many cables to clatter the room and to install the printer ...well just plug it in.The data transfer from the PC was slow and I had to use a few CDs but it did not take more than 1 hour. The antivirus program , another £30 , is brilliant and I never notice when is being use and does not slow down the system.Itunes Iphoto and Safari are much better than anything microsoft will ever produce , in fact most PC run itunes these days.I had the mac for 5 months and it has not crashed once. From the time a press the start up to surfing the net is less tan 20 seconds , switching it off is also very quick. All the otehr features , picture and sound quality etc are great. Is a an expensive computer but is worth every penny.
