A strong bag with great protection for your pro DSLR gear
By Jonathan Pardoe
I photograph Weddings and portraits etc and I have to travel to most of my jobs. I needed a bag that could carry the bulk of my gear for shoots so after much research I ordered this from amazon. This is a large sturdy bag for carrying a lot of pro camera gear. It is suited to a working or keenly enthusiastic photographer who needs to get camera bodies, a number of lenses, a laptop (15" or under) an external hard drive, cables etc around in a safe and practical manner. I can fit my Macbook 13", Lacie rugged 500GB Hard drive, Sandisk card reader, polarising filters, macbook power cable,Nikon battery charger, Nikon D700 with MB D10 Battery grip with 70mm - 200mm 2.8 VR lens ATTACHED (so its ready to shoot), 14mm -24mm 2.8 Nikon lens, 24mm - 70mm 2.8 Nikon lens 105mm 2.8 Nikon lens 50mm 1.4 Nikon Lens, SB600 Nikon Flash unit, Gary Fong Lightsphere cloudy II diffuser and a can of Lynx vice!So guess what? its quite big and its heavy! But the cushioning and balance are so good (with waist and chest straps to keep it flush to your back) that even fully laden I can walk a couple of miles. For me its great as I was using several smaller camera bags to carry the gear about and I was leaving things behind. With the Vertex 200 AW Photo you can pack everything in the night before and just grab it and run. It even has a special attachment for carrying a tripod on the back which I have not used yet. This bag is not for people with a small DSLR and 2 kit lenses, unless they are planning and growing their collection of equipment. You don't need to be fully pro to buy this but don't order this is you are very self conscious about what you would look like with a camera rucksack. But remember if you have a shot you need to get and you want to have a good bit of gear with you, the fact that your bag is on the big side should be the least of your worries! I do recommend this bag as the padding is excellent, space is good (and very easy to customise to your exact set up), build quality is superb and being able to have this much equipment in one bag must a real plus for so many photographers whether they are pro, semi pro or very enthusiastic.

Extreme trekking protection for your valuable gear!
By murrolo
Its a bit of an honour to be the first to review this superb product. If you like to take a lot of photo gear off the beaten track or up mountains, then this is a bit of kit you should seriously consider.Firstly, its very roomy - deceptively so. And the chunky depth allows lenses to be placed vertically which increases the gear carrying capacity. It comes with a multitude of dividers and once you've customised it to your taste there's plenty of padded panels left as spares. And there's a useful padded outer zipped section for your notebook PC for those of you beaming your pics back to your editor whilst on the move - or if you like to check your emails up a mountain.Secondly, it's comfortable - for your gear and for you. LowePro's photo trekking experience has been combined with LoweAlpine's rucksack know-how to produce a comfortable 8 point adjustment system with a broad padded lumber waistband to transfer some of the weight to your hips for comfort and crucially for better balance. And the protection for your gear is as good as it gets.Thirdly, it's just so functional - a real gem of product design and 'knowing your customer'. It has an all-weather cover with a clinch belt to stop it flapping in wind, which is not only water but also dust and sand resistant. The side and back clinch straps for attaching a tripod or other items use the new LowePro "Glide-Lock" system, which allows them to be slid up and down and then fixed to suit the item being carried. Very clever and very stable indeed. It also has a plethora of slip lock attachment loops on the side, back and waistband for Lowepro sliplock pouches for carrying a compact, binoculars or whatever else you need at your fingertips. Inside there are 3 window zippered pockets for filters and other accessories and an additional padded central velcro closing section for a photo viewer or passport hard drive. A nice inclusion. And on the outside, there are two easy access zippered sections for storing even more bits and bobs - including nice padded pockets (4 of them) for additional memory cards. It just has everything you could possibly need in a photo rucksack. Be sure to check out the demo video on the LowePro website to verify what a masterpiece of a bit of kit this is.All-in-all, this is a fantastic piece of equipment for those of you who take your precious photo gear to wild places. And for climbers and hillwalkers, this is the camera protection we've all been waiting for. Simply superb.

Recommended, but heavy and not suitable as aircraft cabin luggage.
By S. Lucock
Having read several reviews I decided to purchase a Lowepro Vertex 200 AW to take my camera equipment and Laptop on a recent holiday to Tuscany. My main reason for purchasing this model was that I wanted to carry my camera gear and laptop on to the plane. I had handeled a Vertex 100 AW, and it would not hold my 15" laptop so I purchased the next size up, the 200. This was just large enough to hold my laptop. I had read that when loaded this bag was very heavy but I was not prepared for just how heavy !!! I only carried a Nikon camera body with zoom attached, 2 other lenses, batteries and charger, along with smaller items. When the laptop was included the whole thing was much heavier than expected. At Gatwick airport we were flying Easyjet and although the case was recommended for cabin baggage it would not fit into the baggage gauge. Fortunately I was allowed to remove the laptop and carry it onto the plane which allowed the case to fit the gauge. This does rather reduce the usfulness of the case, and I may as well have bought the smaller cheaper Vertex 100 !!! Maybe other airlines allow bigger hand luggage, but I thought these restrictions were universal. The case is of excellent construction, and I would recommend it. but please check luggage restrictions carefully, and don't forget that a laptop can add alot of weight !!!
