A quality bit of engineering

First, let me say that fitting this wall-mount, while reasonably straightforward, is not something you should attempt unless you are confident in your DIY capabilities, because of the possibility of an expensive catastrophe should your television fall off the wall. The instructions say that the supplied fittings must only be used straight into brick, concrete or wood with a maximum of 3mm of wall finishing. My wall is slightly different, being plasterboard over thermal blocks, but I used the supplied fixings anyway, and was impressed by the rigidity of the fixing even to this non-ideal medium. You can't use a spanner to tighten the supplied bolts, because the heads are recessed, so a size 12 socket wrench (as Vogel puts it) is essential. Also note that the wallmount must be fitted exactly vertically, because that's the one thing you can't adjust afterwards, and holding the heavy arm against the wall with a spirit level and a pencil to mark the drill holes probably makes it a two-person job.Fitting the television to the arm requires first that you attach a mounting plate to the back of the television. The largest VESA mounting size you can use is 200mm x 200mm, and for this you need to bolt on two extension arms to the mounting plate. This plate then hangs onto the arm with just two bolts, one top and one bottom: and the bottom one doesn't take any weight, so the television is held in place by a single bolt and a little V-shaped ledge of metal. Sounds scary, but in fact it's a really secure fitting once it's been tightened up.I mounted a 37" Panasonic television onto this wallmount, and despite not having quite the right sort of wall, I'm pretty confident it's going to stay put. The arm is well constructed out of steel (with a black finish, not silver like in the picture) and is itself pretty heavy. Folding the arm away gets the back of the television about six inches away from the wall, but if you pull it out, you can turn the screen 90 degrees to the wall (or more if you want). Vertical tilt is only about ten degrees up or down, but that's adequate for most purposes.The arm is a bit stiff to move, and there is a potential for catching your fingers between the two halves of the arm as you fold it away, so it may be best to avoid this mount if you have young children. It's not exactly pretty, but it is smart: it looks like a piece of engineering. There are even a couple of steel cable clips to help you get your cables neatly back to the wall.I'm pretty pleased with this wallmount. It took a bit of effort to install, but the dual-arm operation means I have almost unlimited options for angling my television to view it from anywhere in the room.Note: there is a single-arm version of this wall mount, but this significantly reduces your flexibility for positioning the television (it has to move sideways if you push it back). Which mount you choose depends on what you need, but I'm glad I chose this more flexible option.

I bought this specifically because I wanted to mount a screen at nearly right angles to the wall, so I needed a longer than average arm. It's solidly built, looks good (it's not hidden away behind the screen, so that's important) and reasonably priced. What more do you want?
