5Amateur or Professional Filmmakers essential kit.
By R. FRYER
Placed order at 8 o'clock on Monday evening. Received confirmation of payment and dispatch at 10:45 Tuesday morning. Delivered in good condition to my home address at 12:55 Thursday. That is an excellent delivery time to the Isle of Man. First class service from Netgadgets. What more can you ask?And the Tripod - well, opening the box - no instructions? - no problem. Assembly and set up could not be simpler. Have they sent me the right tripod? Well the order said HQ, this says Konig. Ah! I see. Same thing, different label. There's two boxes, one with the tilt/pan head and one with the tripod. I just fit the two bits together. Two quick release adapter plates for rapid swapping of cameras. Check out the quality of the materials., all very robust looking. Extending the legs. Very smooth, a single turn of the knobs, locks, rock solid. Two pan handles supplied for left or right hand operation. Ball and socket adjustment of the head so you can get true horizontal pans with the aid of the multi-axis bubble level. The head itself has finger tight locking levers for the handle and adapter plate and a larger one for the tilt, all of which, when locked can, be put tidily out of the way. I also find there's a handy spring loaded hook on one of the tripod legs which I assume is to hang extra ballast bags for added stability. That's what I will use it for, anyway!I also went for the Tripod Dolly for Professional Camera/Video/Lighting Very High Quality. Same great quality and robustness. Just flip open the two legs and they lock into position. Drop the tripod legs onto the clamps and screw up the bolts finger tight. It glides along on soft rubber castors which are fully lockable, which means you can track or lock down without having to dismount the dolly. Both are supplied with carry bags to prevent your kit crashing about.I have seen similar tripods for over a grand so this will be a bargain for the amateur or professional film maker on a tight budget. It would also be a great tripod for birding / digiscoping or zoom photography.

1Disappointing peformance. Fluid head is certainly not fluid!
By Mysticpuma
I bought one of these just over a year ago and initially I thought it was an impressive purchase. I have to say my feelings have changed greatly over the year I have had it and here's why.The tripod is great for static shots, I can't fault it at-all. If you lock the tripod off, set your camera up, frame your shot and leave it, the wind will have a hard time blowing the camera at-all as the tripod is heavy, very heavy (a good thing) and suffers not movement at-all.Sadly I bought this as a 'fluid head' tripod and there is no-way I can endorse it as that.I have used Vinten, Velbon, Manfrotto tripods and all move smoothly and beautifully, once you make allowance for your own physical input. A little pressure gets it moving and then the smooth pan follows. Not here! When I move the pan handle there is about a 1cm 'empty' area where the tripod head rocks backwards and forwards (as-well as up or down) and doesn't even engage the fluid part of the head.Various tightening and loosening have no effects and this 'dead zone' means that when you start to pan there is a noticeable jump before the head engages and then as you slow down the pan and start up again the 'dead zone' happens again and again! It is not a fluid movement!I have yet to find a setting on this tripod that allows a 'smooth' pan without the jerkiness of the 'dead zone' occurring, and this drives me crazy. So as a static tripod it makes a great anchor, but as a fluid head tripod to pan with, avoid like the plague!Cheers, MP

5Great value, sturdy tripod
By Julian Frear
This is amazing value. the fluid head is steady and provides exactly what I need at an affordable price. The tripod's heavier than others I've used, and not always so quick to adjust, but then it comes at a fraction of the price of the higher end tripods, and it allows me to do smooth tilts and pans, which is all I was asking for.Altogether a good buy. The bag for carrying it is also good and a lot smaller than others I've used, so it's easy to carry around.
