Versatile camp cooking

Went looking for camp cookers and fell for this one. It takes the Coleman C500 gas cartridges, so no faffing around with regulators, hoses and large bottles.Took it out for a few days camping last week. On the plus side, it's pretty compact and very versatile. It stands about a foot high. We used the naked flame, the frying plate, the grill, the wok - all very satisfactory. It works, it does what it says it will do very well. The most adventurous thing was baking a pizza type bread on the frying plate, with the lid on, with good results.The negatives are few. More practicalities than anything else. As there are no wind shields, the flame is prone to wind interference, but that can be easily sorted. If this is you only cooking device, think carefully how you plan your cooking. There is no easy way to remove the hot fry plate / griddle from the collar. The only way is to tip it off onto the grass. We found we ended up using the fire pit we had with us to keep things warm whilst the Cadac did the cooking. It's not the be-all and end-all, but it is a great piece of kit. It also feels like camp cooking and not a replacement for your home kitchen.

Fab bit if kit

Bought this last year as an addition to our camping equipment and absolutley love it. Used it all over the holiday, plus use it most weekends on the beach. Easy to clean, portable and versatile. Saves a fortune on buying hot meals on the beach and the handy lid/wok keeps the sand off while your cooking and cooks evenly. Must have for the summer.

I bought this BBQ for my son and his wife. They have had experience of using this model last summer which belonged to their friends and were very impressed and wanted one for themselves ready for this summer. They were delighted to receive it as a Christmas present.
