Stockli Dehydrator Product Description:

Product Description

"Dehydrating a variety of foods and herbs is an excellent, natural way of preserving their goodness and concentrating and enhancing their flavours. Make your own banana chips, dried mango or jerky (sorry vegetarians!) in this dehydrator and you will notice the difference in flavour from shop bought products.

The design of the Stockli facilitates temperature controlled drying throughout its three deep trays with the option of adding up to seven further trays to increase the drying area. It dries evenly throughout the tray area with variable, thermostatically controlled drying temperatures from 86° to 158° while using an economical (maximum) 600 watts of power. It features a safety cut-out with automatic reset to prevent accidental damage from overheating in the event that airflow is obstructed for any reason. The 33.5 cm circular base provides a compact footprint for this dehydrator making it ideal where space is at a premium while still offering a substantial drying area. The baffles on the fan distribute heat more evenly with a clever series of concentric outlets in the base. The lid has a useful time indicator that you can set by hand to indicate either start or finish time for the produce you are drying and the instruction manual gives an easy guide to the art of dehydrating with recipes and drying times. 5Very Very Dehydrated!!
By K. Bates
This is an amazing product and does exactly what it is supposed to do.We are keen super light weight backpackers and have always found carrying food a real problem. Not any more. Just create your favorite meal put it in the dryer and about 8 hours later hey-presto instant dried meal. Put it in a "pour and store" bag (available from TESCO) keep it in the fridge or freezer until you go, then when at camp boil the water add to the bag and seal, wait 8-10 minutes and your home cooked meal is ready to consume. Yummy.A couple of points to remember though.1. dont try to keep dried food too long, without a vaccuum packer they dont last for more than about 2-3 months if in the fridge.2. The machine is a bit pricey to run, 600 watts doesn't sound much until you times that by 10 hours......6000watts, that the equivalent of having your kettle on for two hours non-stop and if you do a load of food over a few days this soon adds up.3. You will need to experiment with food that will dehydrate well and more importantly rehydrate well.A companion book that will help you get started is called "Backpack Gourmet" Author Linda Fredrick Yaffe publisher Stackpole Books ISBN 978-0-8117-2634-4Overall though we love it and would not be without it now.We highly recommend this product.

5Great
By A. J. Butler
I bought this for my girlfriend for Christmas and she loves it. She has managed to dehydrate a variety of fruits successfully and is now moving on to more adventurous projects. Vegetables have a little more difficult to perfect but that is because the end product is fairly tasteless and needs to be mixed with flavouring.
