This is the One to Get if You Are a Beginner
By C. R. Downing
I've been teaching guitar for many years and this is the one I always recommend to students who want a large acoustic. Great guitar for the price, easy action and sounds pretty good considering this is 10th of the price a a pro instrument like a Takamine and a 20th of the price of a USA built Martin guitar.Get a set of lighter strings (11s or/and 'light' will be written on the packet for the 1st string gauge). This will help you press the strings down on the frets - as soon as you can play better go the other way to some heavier bass strings and get a set of 'Bluegrass' strings from D'Addario. Eventually your thin 1st string should be a 13 and the 6th heavy string something like 52-56. Start with a thin pick as well (.43mm) - you'll find your strumming easier in the early stages, then move onto a medium (.71mm).If you are going out to lessons or friends, get your self a padded case - not one of those flimsey canvas jobs that won't save the guitar at all. It will cost about £20 for one to do the job at this stage. And lastly if you are happy reading your music from the kitchen table as I did when I started fine - but a music stand of some sort is better - make sure you can get the music underneath your left hand so you can look at the neck, your fingers, and the music all in about the same place. Setting up so you have to look up and down all the time is a bad idea. (I cut 4" of the pipes of mine so they sit 4" lower to the floor.)See my other comments on the F310 set package.

Excellent value
By D Deacon
This a well-made guitar not just for a beginner but for anyone who likes a good sounding playable acoustic at an affordable price. I think you'd have to pay quite a bit more to get something noticeably better. It sounds very good. Get some Martin strings and away you go.The machine heads do not slip and all the bits fit and feel solid. The action is quite good too - important for younger people since they might otherwise have issues holding chords. You might get light gauge strings for younger people.

Great acoustic guitar I can't put it down.
By David Stanbridge
I've had an electric guitar for about 10 years and never learnt more than a couple of chords. I bought this guitar 1 month ago,on the strength of the reviews on this site, and I can't put it down. I've lost count of how many songs I can now play ( some better than others!). It has a great sound, really rewarding when you are learning.
