Does the job, but can be a bit erratic.

For a 18v jigsaw, this model from Ryobi does the job and does it as well as any other battery powered jigsaw. What tends to let it down a little is in the speed of the cutting action, mainly because being battery powered it doesn't have the speed of a mains powered unit. It will ocaasionally snatch and jump out of the workpiece. You'll need to be prepared for this. But don't be put off. It still does a good job.

This does not cut backwards as one reviewer states- it pulls the blade back on the down stroke and forward on the upstroke as it should. If you have to use a blade with down cutting teeth (surely better to cut laminate face down however) the pendulum can be switched off. The laser is terrific for checking you are cutting on line. This is the first lithium ion ryobi I have purchased and it lives up to my expectations. I have used Ryobi ni-cad tools for several years now and they have never let me down.
