Over Priced - Disappointing Sounds

There are some great things about this toy and some really disappointing things. I have also noticed one or two discrepancies in the description on the Amazon page. So lets deal with those first.The "Deluxe" Knapford Station comes with only 2 crossovers not 4 as stated. There are also 2 buffers. 4 Crossovers would have been more desirable.There is no 'Recording' option as the Amazon title suggests, there is only a microphone.On the subject of the microphone, in order to make any sort of decent noise come out of it my child has to impersonate Steve Tyler from Aerosmith; practically having to eat it, in order to make it work. (This is even with the sound level set to 'Normal' (there is also a 'Quiet' setting))The sound effects are quite poor, some of them are hard to determine exactly what they are meant to be. My three year old can make more realistic train noises.There are some good points. The Station itself is excellent, it looks great and is well put together. My son loves the four different platforms and the glass roof. When you use the station lights, it bathes the track and trains in a very realistic yellow light; a small thing but rather nice.In my opinion this toy would have been much better without the electronic component.(I confess this is what I really wanted to be able to buy). The blocky station prevents easy access to the tracks (although this is removable) and the difficulty of use of the microphone renders it almost pointless. The electronic part probably added considerably to the cost, whilst adding very little to the toy's value. Thomas fans will inevitably love Knapford Station, their parents may feel rather more cheated.

Knapford station - a different outlook.

Having seen a previous review, I was a bit worried, but I need not have been. The product is excellent, with really fast delivery from Avides in Germany. All features are present and I can actually make the microphone work. Mind you, I am 62. But my 2 year old grandson will love pressing the buttons to make other sounds eg. puffing steam engine and sounds of coaches. A really good extra for the fans of the Thomas series of toys and TV.Chris Norton

My son is 2.1/2 and is Thomas mad!!This arrived on time, well packaged and my son is over the moon with it! Yes it is overpriced, but isn't all Thomas stuff! I would of liked it to do more for the money you pay and the microphone isnt great but i think that's an adults view as apposed to my son who is delighted!!x
