5Pro-Trek more like Star-Trek
By Alan Moore
This is an astonishing watch. The features on offer (not one a gimmick) are incredibly accurate and easy to navigate. Of note (to me) is the Barometer which lets me judge cycle attire for my daily commute. The compass, altimeter and thermometer are no slouches either. Most unusally for a Casio Pro-Trek the watch also boasts Radio Controlled atomic time, solar charging and a tough titanium build. It really is designed to withstand considerable punishment, undoubtedly fashioned from the Casio G-Shock range. Following modern watch trends it's also a large timepiece, slim in design and oozes quality of something which should cost considerably more.A big technology release for 2007 ... and worth every penny. Thoroughly pleased with my purchase.

5Good looking, quality feel, convenience and loads of functions
By canon snapper
I'll be honest - I didn't buy this watch because I needed one with an altimeter, barometer, compass etc. for all my frantic outdoor pursuits.I like watches that are radio controlled and solar powered as it makes sense to me to have a watch that always tells the right time and adjusts itself for DST and never needs batteries changing. Watches that have both these facilities are fairly limited. Makes that I am aware of are Citizen, Casio and Junghans. I have tried a couple of the Junghans models which were nice but unfortunately marred by some quality issues, and the Citizen models are pretty expensive and have very cluttered faces (the Skyhawk models). And so this leaves Casio. And that's no bad thing as Casio make some good watches.I already have a Casio G-Shock radio controlled Solar watch which is absolutely fine. It does what it should do perfectly and is tough enough to shrug off the occasional whacks against heavy objects that I accidentally subject it to. But I wanted another watch just for variety really. After much searching around I settled for the PRW-1300T. It is a good looking watch and it's titanium bracelet and metal casing give it a quality feel. The other thing that made it appeal to me is the large, clear and uncluttered face. So many watches these days have faces crammed full of dials and markings that make actually reading what the time is a bit of a chore. This watch has a beautifully clear face. And unlike a lot of the Pro Trek models it has a pretty slim case (slimmer than my G-Shock).The vast array of functions it also possesses vary from useful (such as the stopwatch and countdown timer) to interesting diversions (altimeter, barometer etc.) The altimeter seems wildly erratic by the way.So to summarise - this watch combines the total convenience of atomic timekeeping and solar, high build quality, good looks, really nice clear display, and a huge array of extra functions to keep you amused when you want them.

5Basically brilliant
By Laughing John
I've had this watch for over a year now and have to say it is without doubt the best one I have ever owned. I'm a bit of a watch fiend and my wife wanted to buy me an expensive watch for my birthday, but I said no because I know I'll rarely want to wear it, preferring my Casio instead. The good points===============Solar powered - no more batteries!!! I've rarely seen the watch go to low powered and this is usually in winter with lots of dark days and long sleeves.Radio controlled and accurate. I love the fact that it's always accurate. In fact now my watch, the boxes under the TV, my dab clock/radio and my phone all set the time themselves my life is easy. I just need to find a cooker manufacturer and central heating unit that will do the same and I can finally forget having to worry after a power cut.I use the compass and alarm occasionally and have even used the altimeter. I'm not sure I trust the temperature when the watch is on your wrist and I've never bothered with the barometer. The world time function is also excellent when you're travelling - you just tell it where you are and it does the rest. The face of the watch is very large which makes it easy to read but it is also very light thanks to the titanium.I quite like the gimmick where the light comes on when you bring the watch to your face, but have turned it off to preserve power. The not so good points==================Personally I'd like the watch to be a little more stylish. Mine is also starting to look a bit tatty. The veneer on the plastic part at the top (which says "Tough Solar") has flaked away and the metal around the face (which sits proud of the glass) has scratched a fair bit. I'd like to see the face made of titanium and I'd be happy to pay more for better materials (no plastic). The volume of the alarm is pathetic - there's no way I'd rely on it to wake me up. There is also no snooze function. Some of the button operations can be a little confusing as they aren't always consistent - also the 2 buttons used as forwards/back on the right seem to be the wrong way around to me - the bottom one being forward. Finally a silly minor point, but you can't have the full date and day of the week displayed all at the same time - which for someone like me who never knows what day it is would be very useful.Overall I love this watch and the good points far outweigh the bad. I'm just looking forward to the next version .......
