Stagg Black Fretless Bass Guitar Product Description:

Product Description

Stagg fusion fretless electric bass guitars are lightweight, feel great to play and are ideal for jazz, funk and R&B thanks to their similar feel and sound to the acoustic double bass. Available in either natural, black or sunburst, Stagg fusion fretless basses are an affordable choice for bass players looking to eXperiment with another sound and take on the new challenge of fretless playing. Playing a fretless instrument usually requires much more training of the fretting hand for eXact positioning and shifts and more ear training to discern the minute differences in intonation that fretless instruments permit. Fretless bass guitars produce a different, more dampened sound than their fretted counterparts due to soft fingertips in contrast to hard metal frets absobing energy from the vibrating string much quicker. To reduce wear and preserve the life of the impressive rosewood fingerboard, flat-wound, ground wound or nylon tape-wound bass strings are often used. It must also be noted that fretless basses are generally quieter than fretted instruments and are therefore fitted with heavier strings. The Stagg is a superb choice for its great value-for-money components and impressive sound. The sold alder wood body is comfortable to hold and play, and the hard maple neck is smooth and streamlined for speed and precision. 5stagg fretless bass

Mellifluous sound and good looks. I bought a Natural Satin finish Stagg fretless from DJM in the summer of 2011 as I wanted to learn fretless but without risking too much money in case I did not manage to cope. The natural satin version is beautiful to look at and plays nicely too. It appears well made. There are limitations to the performance but you get a lot for the money. The jack plug is wobbly and is the only minor disappointment. I recommend this guitar as a low cost way to learn fretless. The sound is mellow and I play it more than my fretted basses. Excellent service from DJM too. Get one today you will not regret doing so.
