I Love this Superb Teal Cast Iron Casserole Pot

Superb pot, lovely colour, easy to clean, no need to oil pan before use, quality second to none... They heat up slower than aluminium sauce pans, but distribute the heat better and retain the heat for longer; therefor suitable for many types of cooking (browning, braising, reducing, caramelizing, making soups, etc), and of course great for slow cooking. I personally use them a lot in Asian (Thai & Indonesian) and French cooking.I got my Le Crueset Cast Iron Casserole pots some 3 years ago. I started off with 1 and quickly became 8 in different sizes and colours. I ordered them online, but not through Amazon, and all of them arrived in the best of condition and quality.The 22 cm pot is a decent size casserole pot for a family of 4, but probably not big enough to cook a big whole chicken in.As with other Cast Iron products this pot is heavy, so if you have weak muscles or back like I do, you will need someone to help you out with this pot in the kitchen.To give you some idea, below are my Teal 22cm Pot's specifications (approx.):Portion : 3-4Volume : 3.3LLid weight : 1.35 kgPot weight : 2.15kgTotal weight : 3.5 kgHeight : 9.5 cmMax oven temperature : the black phenolic lid knob up to 190C/375F, but Integral cast iron handles or stainless steel knobs can be used at 230C/446F or higher.

COLOUR : TEALMATERIAL : CAST IRONKNOB : PHENOLICROUND 22 cmApproximate maximum capacity : 3.3LThis versatile Casserole Dish/Cocotte/French Oven is ideal for all sorts of recipes and my latest favourite in this size is a one-pot-does-the-lot 'Pork & Sweet Potato Casserole' (courtesy of Waitrose), serving 4 people.It starts off on the hob with heating the olive oil to brown off the pork, turning down the heat to soften up the onion and garlic, adding the cubed sweet potato with the herbs, adding the wine, water and chopped tomatoes then bring to the boil.Cover and simmer on the hob at the lowest heat or transfer to the oven if using for accompaniments like a baked potato.Or....Sue Cutts has a delicious recipe for this sized cocotte, in her LE CREUSET dedicated book: Simple Vegetable and Saffron Rice, serving 6-8, from page 20.This item is sturdily boxed with CAST IRON use & care instructions included.

Disappointing quality

I ordered this as a birthday present for my partner.However when it arrived it had small scratches on the lid and a deep long scratch on the bottom.There were price stickers which had been half removed on the lid and bottom.The Le Creuset box was damaged too and the item was clearly a display item which should not have been sold.Positive is that the refund was quite quick.
