Very good, functionally and aesthetically.

Perhaps because it is more sleek and smart-looking, I often see this mic being used for shoots and TV work, either in this wired version or with the capsule being transferred to a wireless SKM500 radiomic. It's frequently at the lectern for awards ceremonies and the like.Last year I noticed that The Script and La Roux used it for video recording, Avril Lavigne for a TV performance, in October Cher Lloyd bought her own with her for an album Chart Show performance and The Overtones used 6 of 'em on Xtra Factor in December. Just this weekend I bumped into Flo from Florence & The Machine who was rehearsing for Wednesday's NME Awards performance singing with The Horrors and she was trying BOTH the wired E935 version reviewed here AND the wireless version. So the mic obviously has the full endorsement of professional artistes. The audio response is excellent and perhaps for some a little too honest. That is, the reproduction is flat across all vocal frequencies whereas at least one other popular mic can appear to boost your vocals due to a peak in the midrange. One engineer was very keen to substitute the 'standard' mic he was using for one of these as the female artist in question had a thin, nasal tone to her voice which could sound whiney but sounded fine through the E935 which was 'more forgiving in the 2k range'.I've tried this out with a female singer who has quite a delicate voice as well as a thrash metal singer who shouts and growls. They both liked the mic very much. The metal artist said he felt he had more control when using this mic as he could move the mic closer or further away without affecting the tonal quality of his voice. He found this made his performance more natural as he didn't have to regulate his dynamic range to accomodate for the mic's tendancy to affect the tone, especially when singing very close. Instead he could sing as loud or quiet as he wanted through different sections, adjusting proximity to control loudness without any tonal imbalance. The female singer said it sounded "lovely".All in all, choice of microphone is very much a matter of personal taste. This model is well up there with the best mics for versatile live performance use. It certainly has a detailed response. Ultimately, whether this mic is good for you will depend on how you perform and whether or not you use the so-called proximity effect to enhance your performance.[My Ref: Senn E935 st(4) Feb 2012]

As usual, Sennheiser set the standard
By Little Cat Voom
If you want a sturdy microphone, that can deliver great tone and a rich warm sound and will also limit feedback, then this is the model for you. I`ve used it in numerous environments, even as an acoustic guitar microphone and it`s brilliant! And it isn`t even designed for that! I`ve used many Sennheiser products - both personally and professionally - over the years, and they are almost always market-leading products...often leading in price too, but you can buy their goods with confidence, knowing you are getting a great mix of build quality and technical expertise. This is fairly expensive, but you can see and feel the quality as soon as you use it. Other reviewers of this product suggest that musicians performing styles as diverse as hip-hop, soul and heavy metal are finding advantages - from taming loud vocals, to allowing lower monitor levels and increasing subtle passages, to reducing the "nasal" sound of a cheaper mic; all in all, a professional mic, as it says, in every way. Knowing you have great quality, reliable equipment sure takes some of the pressure out of live performance!

Generally good mic, but...
By Harry46
Purchased the Sennheiser e925 recently but was doing a gig and it suddenly gave up the ghost so after checking all connections etc it turned out to be the mic itself, lucky I had a spare mic to continue the gig. Anyway thanks to Amazons extremely fast replacement service I returned the faulty one and hopefully my replacement will last more than a few months. Don,t be put off though maybe I just recieved a dodgy one as another one of the guys in the band has had his Sennheiser for nearly 15 years. Top marks to Amazon for their first class service on this matter, contacted them on Sunday had new mic on the Tuesday and courier came on Monday to return faulty mic which they have now recieved.
