Great product for the money

I bought this about two years ago and its been great the whole time. Currently using it with Traktor Pro, Windows 7, Native Instruments AK1 Soundcard.I went for this instead of the other midi controllers because it was so much cheaper, but having said that I'm glad I didn't spend any more, since this has been perfect for me... progressing from a beginner to competent DJ. I haven't been disappointed with its performance in the slightest.The Total Control is plastic but sturdy, has knobs and faders that are of a reasonable quality and well laid-out, and is fairly light and small, but most importantly its a much cheaper alternative to many of other controllers with similar features/potential for use in a professional setting. It also comes with a number of overlays to help you change the midi mapping to suit your DJ software.Despite the 5 stars, I'll stress that this controller probably isn't great for DJs who want to develop their scratching skills. (The are products with much more sensitive jog-wheels around which are more suited to this)great for beginner digital DJs but also way beyond.

Budget item serves me well

I picked this up as a budget alternative to pricier outboard dj controllers. 2 years later, it's still running fine (although one of the stutters is a little sticky - probably from flying drinks) and no problems with lagging. Is stable in vista, haven't tried with XP. I use mine with a numark DJ IO and play in humid, busy club conditions at least once a week. There's better premium products out there but as yet I've not felt the need to upgrade.

Good but.....

A Few words of warnings to potential buyers of the NUMARK TOTAL CONTROL:1. If like me you use the internet with a mobile dongle connection - BEWARE!The internet connection may, like mine not be good enough to access the set up for Traktor Le.The Solution? - You will need to find an alternate wi-fi or other strong internet connection.Mine was so weak a signal/connection it kept failing to access, with constant: "Downloading paused" error messages.Eventually took it around to my folks who have Wi-fi internet broadband and within 5 mins all resolved.2. Numark total control DOES NOT come with ability to monitor and mix without buying extra software Numark Djid10 - which costs an extra £75 approx (post added to that too) - So my Numark total control will cost me: £105 + £75 in total, something casual first time buyers might want to think about. There are other dj pc kits for around £25 - £100 if you look around.3. Numark total control with Traktor only has 3 built in effects to use: Reverb, Flange and Delay.Ok maybe, but I am used to using around 20+ effects on my sampler - so 3 feels a bit poor.However, other software than Traktor can offer more - So consider those if needed.All in all, this is a very good piece of kit. But the above 3 small niggles may be enough to make you consider something else!However, as a controller - it is one of the finest and easiest to use.I am happy, but not 100% thats all - hence only 3 stars review.
