A solidly presented microphone
By GreenacreMan
I had become aware of this mic on a voice recording course, and decided to invest in one.On receiving it I discovered it to be very well engineered, though bigger than I had imagined! I thought my little table-top mic stand might topple over with its weight!Connecting it up I found it was very easy to set up, and I was soon trying out its performance.Excellent sound quality, little discernible noise, plenty of sensitivity, good tonal response for the voice, and dead easy to use - just plug it straight into the USB socket. All in all I am very pleased with it, though given its size I will probably invest in the anglepoise type stand that Rode sell for it.

Quality and simplicity
By DS
As others have noted this is good quality construction and great sound. The microphone is plug and play with most computers (including those running recent-ish versions of linux). This is a mic you'll want to use quite close up.As a minimum you will need a mic stand. After a few weeks I also added a spider mount to eliminate noise caused by vibration. I also picked up a pop shield to reduce plosive 'p' and 'b' noises. Neither of these additions are strictly necessary but they enhance a quality product. The only thing that would improve the mic would be a gain control. However, it seems to be set to quite a sensible level so I haven't found this to be a limitation in use.

Superb USB microphone!
By G. Fraser
I spent a while pondering whether to get this or not - it seemed a bit lavish for my needs at the time. However, I'm truly thankful that I decided to get it!First, this thing is much bigger than you might imagine. It's about the size of a medium sized air freshener aerosol. It's quite heavy too - probably weighing around 1lb or more? But don't let these things deter you - they all add to the quality feel of the device and it's robustness comes in handy if you're clumsy like me!Sound quality is superb, as you'd expect. Be sure to google for the product and watch some of the demo videos that explain best placement and distance from mouth in order to get even better sound quality.A green LED indicates when the mic is powered and, thankfully, this indicator is not too bright - it doesn't distract you at all unlike some other mics I've seen that nearly blind you - Røde have clearly thought carefully about every aspect of this product.Underneath the mic is a socket for headphones and a small volume dial so you don't need to fiddle with your computer volume control if things get a little too loud. If you're a DJ you can configure most software to use the mic's headphone output socket for pre-queuing which is awesome! The USB connector on the end makes it super easy to connect to your computer and on my Macbook Pro both the mic and the headphones were immediately identified and usable for sound input and output.I've been using the mic for about a year and not had a single problem with it, Røde built this thing to last! For best results I'd highly recommend getting the table stand and arm, and shock mount.
