What a shame!

I have had one of these items for many years and was very satisfied so I knew what I should get. However, it arrived scratched and dented and the drawers would not open. I 'phoned customer service and arranged for it to be collected for return (there was no way I could get it to the Post Office or a carrier and it was certainly going to cost far more than the £3.30 Amazon credited me with to return it). The replacement arrived undented but with scratches on the rear. However, these were out of sight so I decided to accept it. Unbelievably, the drawers on this would not open either so I 'phoned a distributor to find out if there was some sort of transit locking system and was told that there was not. As a result of this I started giving the top drawer violent tugs and suddenly it opened. I discovered that all four runners had become dislodged and after replacing them the drawers slid in and out reasonably well (although not quite flush). However, if I lock the cabinet, I then have the same problem of opening again so obviously the dislodged runners were not the cause of the drawers not opening. I have decided to keep the item because (a) I can't be bothered with the hassle of returning it and (b) I don't need to lock the cabinet anyway so difficult drawer opening won't be an issue. I have made an official complaint by telephone to customer services. I can't imagine it will do any good for anyone else who buys this item.

It is hard to write 20 words extoling the virtues of a filing cabinet that is what it says it is. But it is. Gosh that was 24 words! PS mine is already full.... of files!
