Pleased with Brantania Twin Bin

We bought the Brabantia twin bin (fingerproof matt steel) a few months ago when we started composting food waste, so that we could have only one bin for both compostable waste and other rubbish. It is a smart looking bin, which can fit up against a wall, due to it's flat back. We feel it is tidier than having our old bin plus a separate food caddy. Also, we didn't really have any counter space we wanted to give up to a caddy, plus I think the compostable section, which is 10 Litres, is quite a bit bigger than the caddy we were provided.The fingerproof matt steel is definitely fingerproof and doesn't show up marks easily, unlike our previous shiny steel bin, which constantly needed cleaning. The lid, however, is black plastic and does show up some finger marks. Having had a pedal bin previously, we haven't quite got used to opening the bin before we crack eggs etc, so sometimes end up opening the bin with messy/wet fingers, but when we do remember it's great having a lid that easily clicks open and stays open, and doesn't bang against our wall (as our pedal bin lid did). The black plastic lid is very easy to wipe clean though if it is dirty.We are happy with the overall size of the bin. We use the 10 Litre section for compostable waste and 23 Litre section for other waste. The compostable section doesn't go to the bottom of the bin, it goes down approx. 40cm. We are happy that it is not full length, we personally wouldn't need this much space for compostable rubbish, it would start to smell too much if it were bigger (there are currently 3 in our household and we usually empty it every 2-3 days; we empty before it is completely full sometimes due to the smell).The brabantia 23-30L 'G' liners fit the 23 Litre section well and 10L 'K' compostable liners fit the 10 Litre section well; they are easy to fit and don't show at all once you've fitted the lid on top (if you do get this bin and the 'K' liners it's worth not filling right to the top as we found the first couple of times we used it, we filled it up to the top and found it both harder to remove the liner/waste and also tie a knot in the top of the bag). We're pretty sure the compostable liners aren't waterproof, and although we don't put any liquids in the bag and squeeze out tea bags etc before putting in, the outside of the bag quite often feels damp when emptying, and sometime the bottom of the bin has a small amount of liquid in. As the compostable section isn't too deep it is much easier to wipe clean than a deeper bin.Overall we've been very happy we bought this bin and it's good that it has a 10 year warranty.Just to add, nothing to do with the bin quality, but the first 2 bins we received were dented, but Amazon arranged for these to be collected and replaced them quickly, our third bin was fine! So check the bin over well before you throw away any packaging, just in case.

Dual purpose bin

This is a handy bin as it is two in one and neat and stylish. I use the left side 23 ltr as my recycling waste and the right side 10 lt's for all other rubbish. The lid pops up with a touch, and the bin is very easy to empty and clean.(I personally would prefer if the right side was bigger ie if bin went all the way to the bottom, as I use is for all non-recycable waste, the bin actually stops around 2/3rd's down on the right, however it is designed for compost waste)

With its semi-circular shape this bin does does not take up a lot of floor space, yet makes the separation of rubbish and recycling very easy. The fingerprint proof coating makes this very easy to keep looking very smart. I wish I had bought one sooner!.
