The light given off by this fitting is mainly in a downward direction. This product is suitable for use in a bathroom within regulated zone 1 or higher. Zone 1 is the area directly above the top edge of the bath or shower tray to a height of 2.25 meters from base. This light fitting has an IEC protection class of 2, double insulated. This light has an International Protection Rating of IP65. The first digit gives this light complete protection against ingress and contact of dust, it is dust tight. The second digit shows a protection of the equipment inside the enclosure against ingress of water jets. There is no fitted switch or dimmer within this light fitting. This light fitting is suitable for installation onto a dimmer control circuit

I took a chance with these because I was not sure from the pictures, how they would look but now that they are installed they do look good and seem to be good quality.
