4Takes a little getting used to.

So I bought one of these guitars, used, via an Amazon Seller. Many people buy instruments and never learn to play them and the guitars end up taking up space and doing little else apart from collecting dust. So there are some bargains to be had when those people decide to sell them on.This one was made in 2008 (re:serial number) so the creosote smell of the strap had virtually gone. The action was a little high and the intonation was a bit out so I adjusted the truss rod a little after putting on some Ernie Ball Rock and Blues strings. I think I might have to take about 1mm off the saddle. There's a spare saddle and some shims included so no problems if I mess up.The guitar itself sounds like a cross between a banjo and a mandolin. It kept going out of tune at first. I always get that with new strings. But after a while the tuning settled down a bit and I started with a few chords, sat on the sofa and not using the strap. Not surprisingly it's a little neck-heavy, so I ended up holding it a bit like a mandolin, supporting it with my right wrist. So I got a few tunes out of it, Pink Floyd's "Breathe", Dylan's "Hard Rain's Gonna Fall" - although I can never remember all the words - and one or two others, and just a bit of general noodling about. So it's a nice little guitar, not much volume - which is useful depending on where you are. You won't get the full-bodied sound of a Dreadnought out of this, far from it. It's a bit of a boxy sound which takes a little getting used to.But for traveling or just practicing then this is a good instrument.
