Excellent piece of kit

I got this camera as an upgrade to my Nikon Coolpix 5200 and have been really pleased with it. It's got 8.1 pixels which is great because you can zoom in on images and crop them and still end up with a good quality resolution, also ideal if you print out your images in a larger format such as A4 or bigger as the image still remains sharp. Then comes the 5X optical zoom, most cameras only have 3X which never seems to get you close enough to what you want shoot but this one makes a noteable difference, and also it's a quality Carl Zeiss lens too. Now to get to the 3 inch LCD screen which has to be it's best point, crystal clear for viewing what you want to frame and shoot and also for playing back and editing images. The cameara itself is nice and compact, has a good solid metal casing and a nice weight to it so it actually feels like your holding something. Finally operating it, take it out of the box and snap away, it's really that easy to use. All the operations are menu based as with most things these days, and each operation comes with a text explanation so you can tell what it doe's. Lots of useful features included such as anti blur to help eliminate camera shake, something which can be a problem when using a screen rather than a viewfinder to line up your shot, and theres also a macro close up that gets you in as close as 1CM with excellent results. From a negative point of view the screen can get a few smudges on it from the oil in your skin even when taking care to avoid doing so, and you get no cleaning cloth provided which is a pity. Then theres the issue of a case which you never get and always have to buy seperately, come on manufacturers put one in the box and up the price a little because we are going to have to buy one anyway and then at least we will have something to protect our expensive equipment straight out of the box.If your looking for a camera with the latest spec that gives good results, looks good, and is easy to use this is it, I highly recommend it plus you get a choice of colours too.

I purchased this several months ago and am delighted with it. It is small enough to be pocketable, yet still feels reassuringly well-made. The face detection function works very well, and the camera takes great portrait shots under low light conditions compared to my previous Sony camera. The huge screen and 5X non protruding zoom lens are also big pluses. The menu system has been improved considerable over the old Sony system as well. Memory stick duo prices also seem to have fallen to a similar level to SD cards recently (historically a problem with Sony cameras)The only annoying aspect of this camera is having to take the battery out and place in a separate unit to charge it. I don't feel this is a very elegant solution. I would also recommend black as the preferred colour for male users. Silver looks a little "girly" - maybe just my opinion though!

I can only endorse what has been said by other reviewers. I replaced my old digital camera (now rated big and clumsy!!) with the T100 a couple of months ago. I am still amazed by the quality of the pictures I am taking - and I am certainly no David Bailey - and am finding out more about its features each day. The close up feature on macro setting is truly remarkable. The only gripe I have is that the full manual is a downloadable pdf file and runs to some 119 pages. I much prefer sitting down and reading something tangible.
