Wish i had bought it sooner. There is more room in the tank because its external. Much easier to change media and less messy, than having to go in the tank water. It is keeping the water cleaner.

Got a different product

I wanted to replace my Fluval 205 with an identical unit, but was sent a new model, the 206. This works fine and is similar in size, but it had different fittings so I had more work to fit it rather than just a straight replacement. The supplier said the 205 wasn't available but it was still being advertised elsewhere.

I found it a lot quicker and easier to set it up with the handy dvd you get with the filter than using an instruction manual, although Hagen could have made the hosing longer as i have a 48inch tank and what you get does'nt leave much room for error when cutting to size.Word of warning after about three months the filter started leaking, i have tried useing Petroleum Jelly on the gasket but to no avail.
