5"You may begin landing your troops!"
By TK-1308
Lego kicks off the 30th Anniversary year for Star Wars with a collection of vehicles including this rather excellent Imperial Landing Craft.Seen only briefly in the remastered version of A New Hope, the ship is seen taking off in the background after depositing a squad of Sandtroopers and Dewbacks onto Tatooine to look for a certain escape pod!The kit is well made, resembling the ship in great detail and it is packed with features. The central hull has 6 opening hull plates on each top side to allow access to the interior but the whole middle section can detatch as a 'drop pod' as well.By turning the handle at the back a gear mechanism allows the wings to fold up for landing or down for flight mode. The 'drop pod' has several features inside it including 2 forward firing missiles launchers (one on each side) with missiles similar to the one in the current Slave 1 kit (#6209) and these are activated by pushing the side laser cannons in a little. There are also two levers at the back which allow bombs to be dropped from either side as well. The ship is about 32 cm long and has a flat wingspan of 36cm and is quite easy to build in about 45 minutes. However, the best selling point about this kit is the figures that come with it. You get an Imperial Pilot for the ship, 2 Stormtroopers to man the firing cannons and 2 Sandtroopers as well. Finally, after making Star Wars themed sets for 7 years, Lego have at last made blaster rifles for their figures! No more aiming with megaphones any more! Each Stormtrooper comes with a Blastech E-11 rifle and each Sandtrooper come with a concussion grenade rifle. All in all, the Imperial Landing Craft is a great kit and a very welcome edition to the Lego universe.

5Imperial Landing craft
By M. Linehan
This was my first Star Wars LEGO purchase! I remember seeing the film as a small child when it was first released in 1977; I thought then that the Stormtroopers were the best of all the characters. This set/model comes with four of them, 2 x Sandtroopers (with the orange epaulettes, as seen on Tatooine), 2 standard Stormtroopers and a TIE fighter pilot figure. The actual shuttle has folding wings and a removeable fuselage (body) so that your troops can "mount up"! it comes with two missiles that fire and also bombs that drop. For me it was a must have, and re-introduced me to the world of LEGO, thirty years after I gave up playing with it. Go on dads treat yourselves, just make sure that you are not paying over the odds, and that the retailer that you purchase from hasn't removed the figures and then cut the price.
