Awesome!
By S. Suchak
Was reading the previous review and figured that the guy has no idea how to use his computer. So, before you get put off, I thought I'd step in and affirm that this is an awesome product.Plug your guitar / bass into your 'puter by USB!!! It does what it says on the packet and it works in your DAW.Amplitube is the software it comes with - a well-respected piece of software.

StealthPlug is a miniature soundcard
By Jonesey
For those who are confused about the Stealthplug, you need to understand that StealthPlug is a miniature soundcard / audio interface and hence it runs independently of whatever soundcard is already installed on your PC. So all input AND output is routed through the StealthPlug once your software has selected to use it. It uses the high-speed ASIO driver system which has no connection with Windows own, built-in and inefficient, DirectX system, You need to use ASIO drivers because the DirectX drivers are too slow and you would get delay when you played your guitar (latency). As the StealthPlug is a separate soundcard, it needs to be connected to speakers directly (or to headphones) using the small socket on the side. It does not use the computer's own speakers because these already connected to the computers built-in sound card. Mac machines let you play with the audio card settings through the Mac control panel so you don't have to worry about separate drivers. It is a great little device and is easy to set up and configure. It gives you a high quality, low latency connection for your guitar, so you can completely forget about the poorer sound system supplied in most PCs (especially laptops!).

It's just a bit too sucky
By J Bakewell
This product works with vista and windows 7 but you might have to download the drivers from the IK website. It does what it says on the packet, I can plug my guitar in to my computer and play through a virtual guitar amp using the software provided. However, the sounds aren't really all that good and you're better off buying a real guitar amp.Apparently you can record music with the stealth plug but I haven't been able to to do that yet so be warned. Although the product works, my computer doesn't seem to register the sound so I can't hear anything through my speakers and my recording software doesn't recognise anything. So basically all this does is allow me to listen to myself playing the guitar through headphones: which I could do anyway without having to turn my computer on.If you're looking to record music, invest in a good sound card. You can get good sound cards cheaper than this product.
