DPX4/10 DMX Dimmer Pack. Excellent value for money.

The case uses security screws on the cover, so you will need a set of star bits if you do not already have one (Draper 38716 33-Piece Security Bit Set or equivalent). This dimmer pack can supply 10A/channel if connected to a 40A supply. I use it with a 13A supply and this allows a total load of 3KW. This gives an average of 750W/channel which is plenty for my 300W par56 lamps. If your DMX is 3 pin, don't be put off by this unit having 5 pin connections. My cables are 3 pin and I just use neutrik 3-5 and 5-3 pin adapters. There is provision to directly wire the DMX cables into the unit, which uses terminal blocks (using a small flat screwdriver). In that case adapters are not necessary. You can also connect a resistor if the unit is at the end of the chain. There are no sockets on the unit so you can wire whatever sockets you require directly into the box. I used IEC leads which I bought without plugs on. The DMX addressing switches use switch 1 to enable pre-heat of lamps if wanted. the DMX start address of the unit is the switch settings plus 1. With all the switches off, the start address is 1. Another useful feature of the design is that the triacs are screwed into terminal blocks rather than being soldered on the circuit board making replacement easy. This dimmer pack offers good quality at a low price.
