They contain a high proportion of pigment; they are highly light-fast and do not change colour appreciably when fixed. The compact pastel lead is perfect for hobby painters and professional artists, because it produces plenty of colour without being used up too fast.The wood-cased PITT pastel pencils are clean to handle. The practical pencil form is easy to control, even for beginners to pastels. Faber-Castell PITT pastel pencils are particularly suitable for lines, hatching, and very fine colour transitions, but also for shading larger areas. They are useful for sketches and studies, portraits, still lifes and landscapes. High quality pigments in unsurpassably lightfast bright colours, the leads are 4.3mm diameter. a new art form for me

A lovely way to produce good work I found them clean to work with and the scope of colours has got me hooked on this way of working, I have done several animals and had good comments and am now trying portraits. Just using pastel paper, cheap and cheerful, but would like suggestions from other artists on what they use,if you haven't used pastel pencils give them a go,
