The best version of a wonderful game
By Trigger
All too often FFVI is forgotten in favour of its successors, but it's still a wonderful game which easily ranks up there as not just one of the best FF games, but one of the best JRPGs of all time. One of my favourite aspects of this is in its ensemble cast - there are fourteen characters in all, and rather than having one main protagonist like most of its peers, five or six of the cast here share the limelight, which really made me care more for them and feel like more of a team. What's more, the main villain Kefka is an enigmatic clown who doesn't have any special powers and is not averse to cowardly running away, accompanied by his insane laugh. He's much more individual and interesting than most RPG antagonists, and it's no surprise that he appears on a lot of favourite villain lists. The GBA port of FFVI is basically the same as the previous PS1 and SNES iterations, albeit without the loading which plagued the PS1 version and with slightly reworked visuals. It's a substantial game, weighing in a good 30 hours or more, and generally this is as good a version as there has been. The plot is good for the genre - clearer and simpler than that of FFVII, but more interesting and involving than most, and it's probably up there with Dragon Quest VIII in terms of narrative and scripting, which has been altered and improved a little from the PS1 version.FFVI feels like it has never had a chance to shine, either amongst its own brethren or standing out from the GBA's catalogue of excellent RPGs or adventures. However, this is undoubtedly one of the greatest games ever in its genre, and deserves to be played by everyone, no matter which format. As it happens, the GBA port is the best version of an excellent game.

Well, what can be said about this game that hasn't been already! The story is amazing, the characters all have their own unique personalities abilities that makes the game fresh and unique. This GBA version of the SNES classic is excellent even if the original game was first released 15 years ago!So many cult moments, a very long lasting appeal , with several hidden characters and sidequests, highly recommanded!
