Washburn Rover Travel Guitar

Just bought one of these. I have read reviews knocking the sound quality of this guitar, but I totally disagree with them. I think the sound is amazing for its size, far louder than I imagined and it has a nice accoustic tone. It's very nice and light to hold (good for your neck, if you use a strap!), I can see I'll be using this for lots of practice and not just for travelling. I did quite a lot of research on the different travel guitars about and found it to be one of the few travel guitars to have a full set of frets on the finger board. For a sub £100 this came out tops.....fantastic piece of kit for the money and the gig bag is of amazing quality. It even comes with straps, a DVD for beginners and picks!

This was an excellent purchase and I highly recommend it.I decided to buy this guitar to keep under my desk at work; I'd come in early and do some real practice which would encourage me to play again in the evening. I've been failing to put in the effort since I started learning twelve years ago and was stuck in my own three chord hell.It worked. I'm working my way through David Mead's excellent 10 minute Acoustic Guitar Workout and really enjoying learning. Then when I get home I can noodle around with a clear conscience and I'm able to extend my range because of the morning work. Getting a good start to the working day as well so less to worry about when I get home.The full size neck is ideal and the instrument has a bright clear tone. The small body makes it a bit quiet unless you pick with real definition which actually helps in the fingerstyle practice I'm putting in.The set is outstanding value. The build quality in the case isn't outstanding but it serves its purpose well. It's got a tutorial CD, a couple of picks and backstraps in there for carrying it.And then there's a guitar strap.This comes in a sealed plastic bag and on no account should you open it. The fake leather ends of the strap are bonded together with a glue that hadn't set properly and smells strongly like coal tar. Seriously; it was delivered to my office and people were complaining of smarting eyes and a sore throat. Windows had to be opened.I took it off after the first day and replaced it with a £2.49 purchase.You will need a strap by the way, as the body is so small it's difficult to support with arms alone.Strap notwithstanding, I really am pleased with this so far and I'm looking forward to using it for its intended purpose when I go on holiday.I really can't give it less that the full five stars. After all, no one ever bought a guitar because they wanted its strap.

The Guitar itself is fantastic and better than expected, the intonation and tuning is far better that I expected for a travel guitar and better than most standard I would say. So thumbs up for all that. It also looks better than I expected with a nice body finish.Only bad point was the strap included was faulty and covered in some kind of glue, almost like they had forgot to seal the leather bits. But I will just bin that I guess.As before the guitar is great and the case is useful and also delivered very quickly. like 2 working days.
