All you will need from a small acoustic.

The backpacker comes with a mini nylon Martin gig bag, gig bag strap, guitar strap, and guarantee registration card. This review is for the steel string version.At just under 3ft in length and made of light solid tone woods, the backpacker gives an impressive unplugged sound - similar to an unplugged semi-acoustic. The mini headstock has six tuning keys which are of high quality, and don't seem to go out of tune unless knocked. The neck has a large guitar feel, highlighted by a thicker than normal grip. The frets have a slight edge to them, but not enough to cause pain or damage. These can be easily filed smooth. The saddle rides only very slightly high for electric guitar players, but easy to get used to. This is deliberately not glued, so the player can file as needed. Light gauge strings are recommended by Martin, standard strings are used.In use the backpacker took a moment to tune - purely due to the stretch of the new strings. Once in tune it stayed, and played beautifully all along the neck. The main thing to get used to is the balance of the instrument. The neck is heavier than the body, so a slight tilt downwards was inevitable, until I adjusted my playing position. The guitar strap was enough to hold the guitar true. The sound of the guitar had a bright twang to it, with plenty of depth to the tones of the strings. Don't expect BIG guitar sound with this. There is a compromise on sound boom, and it won't fill a hall with sound. It's much better than the sound of an unplugged electric, similar to an unplugged thin bodied semi-acoustic. Each string had plenty of sustain. Playing the guitar had a BIG guitar feel and a fun factor similar to driving a small smart car on a motorway. The guitar itself is a great portable instrument, being very light, relatively short, and thin bodied.Take this instrument for what it is. A means of playing the instrument you love, wherever you like. It's not a replacement for a full acoustic, and won't be your prime instrument. It is however, very convenient, light, and good enough to compose songs on, accompany a voice, or just for practice. I could walk around with this guitar all day long. Fun, good quality - highly recommended.
