The new compact Tokina 10-17 is a unique fish-eye zoom lens that gives a 180 degree field of view with dramatic curvature of field or fish-eye effect. With this lens an entire view or vista can be captured wider than the human eye can see. The front element of the AT-X 107 DX has a newly formulated WP or Water Proof optical coating on the glass. ------This new coating makes marks such as spots left by water or finger-prints much easier to clean than standard multi-coating. Because of the fish-eye front element it is not possible to have a protection filter in front of it so caution is recommended on how you handle it. Taking it into a windstorm in the desert might not be a good idea.---

Pretty good

I use this lens quite a lot and it is mostly a good performer. Focus is always spot on. Build quality is up to the usual Tokina standards (there doesn't seem much plastic in it but I can't say if my assumption is correct). The only issue with the lens is a certain amount of chromatic aberration at the edges of high contrast subjects - but not enough to put me off using it. Another plus is the fact that, at 17mm, it will cover a full-frame sensor - so I've been told. For the money it is excellent.
