2Tiny plates for your speakers to sit on
By The Truth
I have two sets of speaker stands for two sets of studio monitors. These, and the more expensive model I'm guessing they were modelled on - the Quiklok BS300: Quik Lok BS/300 Straight Monitor Stand with Single Adjustable Height ColumnAt twice the price for the Quikloks, when I bought some new Yamaha monitors, I thought, why not save myself some money and go for the Samsons?I thought, Quiklok stuff is so expensive, I'm sure you just pay for the name and I have other Samson kit in my studio - they're a pretty good make. Yeah, I'll be smart with my money and get a pair of these instead.I thought, they look exactly the same - I doubt there's any difference.WRONG!!!On opening the box they arrived in, a small problem was immediately evident. 'Small' being the operative word.Unlike my Quiklok stands, the platforms of these on which your speakers actually sit, are tiny... tiny, tiny, tiny, tiny!!!They're barely 6.5 inches square (6 x 6.5 inches to be precise), and although I'm told they can handle weights of up to 40lbs, the weight they can handle is not my concern.I feel very uneasy about putting any pair of speakers that aren't the size of a pair of Auratones or AKG LSM 50s on these. They may be good for a pair of ipod speakers but that's about it.Samson say that they're ideal for Auro 8's resolve and Rubicon series of monitors - I have no idea what size those are, but really am unhappy about putting my new Yamahas on these - let alone my trusty PMCs. It feel like I'm balancing them on a pin head. The build quality and everything otherwise, is good - if Samson had just made the plates a little bigger these would get 5 stars, but as it stands (not pun intended), they get only get 2.I contacted Samson to see if they sold bigger plates that I could put on - upgrades, if you like - but they don't. And until Quiklok lower the price of their goods - I'd say the market is still wide open for a company like Stagg, Tiger or Behringer to create a decent pair of cheap speaker stands... much like these, but with a sensible sized platform to put your speakers on.Samson, you were so near - yet so far.UPDATE:After several near disasters, I contacted Quikolck and told them that I had lost the plates to my speakers stands and asked if I could buy some replacements. They were happy to oblige, so now I have Quikolck plates on these stands. I still works out cheaper that buying the quick lock stands that way, so maybe that's something you might like to consider.

5solid, perfect fit for m-audio av40 monitors
By trance blackman
no complaints so far, except about how uneven my actual floor is... but the stands are solid, sturdy and take only a minute to setup. good adjustable height and frees up desk space.

5Cool
By D. Athinaios
I am happy with this stands. I use them for maudio bx5's. Although they do not fit perfectly they seem to be fine when attached to the stand with tape. if you bump them they will fall though so it depends on your standards.
