Great in-ears to someone on a budget!

I've been using these in-ears on my shows for 2 years now, and I'm glad I did this choice. For the price you won't find better, believe me.I'm the lead singer in my band so I wouldn't mind to have a little extra high-end on these. This would be the biggest drawback concerning the sound quality - you lose a bit of clarity on vocals.On other hand, they would fit perfectly a guitarist or keyboardist on stage.A great advantage of these earbuds is how they fit your ears perfectly. I used a pair of Shure E3's and they were always falling off, especially when the temperature is high and you sweat a lot.Sound quality - 3.5/5Sound isolation - 4/5Price-quality - 5/5

A price of around £100 for a pair of earphones might sound like a lot to any consumer listener (as opposed to an audio professional who might spend up to £2000 on them) but it is money well spent when you consider you can easily spend that on a pair of shoes. If you listen to music regularly, commuting etc, then the 'cost per wear' value is good, and you'll get so much more out of your music, and these headphones will last for years if you look after them.The UM1's are the very best in the price range (believe me I've shopped around, tested and researched). The sound quality is fabulous, so detailed and rich that your music will take on a whole new life.Sound isolating earphones block out external sound to the extent where all you can hear is the music, so you can immerse yourself in it wherever you are. I recommend replacing the Comply tips with Shure foam tips, but thats just a personal preference - I find the Complys too soft.High-end earphones need 'running in' and so they can sound tinny at first but the warmth and bass develops as the drivers 'break in'. The sound improves over the first few hours of listening to music through them.The UM1's are very comfortable to wear, the braided cords are extremely light and flexible and very durable.I know I sound like a salesman but I'm not, I just want people who love music to appreciate the value of great earphones!

to get things in context i am not one of these people who have just taken a shot at getting some decent headphones after thinking there may be something more to the stock ipod headphones, perviosly i have had three pairs of etimotic ER6i's, a pair of shure E2c's, ultimate ears metro.fi 100, and now these westone um1's, i use my monitors at work under ear defenders this provides extra sound isolation and also allows me to listen to music in comfort without pain from the ear defenders pushing against the headphones all except the ultimate ears have done this well.I have used these headphones with the etimotic platic tips however the foam tips provided are very comfortable however they will not last forever and tend to pick up muck from your ears.I was rather hesitant when buying these because of the rather large price, I found reviews saying they were the most comfortable headphones they had found within the range, and I definitely agree with them using them all day with no problems. Some users who have not had these type of monitors may find them a little odd you do stick them in your ear canal and this is how they isolate all that sound but I found after a few minutes you forget they are that far in, and now I forget I actually have anything in my ears the sound feels like it's coming from inside your head! After that you will never go back to `normal' headphones!!, another thing to get used to is the wire over the ear these are defiantly better designed for that than the shure e2c's but with glasses I find that you can notice it on occasion. But it's nothing to get worried about. Build quality seems to be fantastic, with a relatively sturdy, L-shaped jack and a good connection between the wire and the headphones when previous headphones have broken I wished I could design the faults out of them with these headphones however I'm stumped to find any faults and have to conclude that with their two year warranty and the fact that they fit all my ear tips for my Etimotic ER6's I will not have a better pair of headphones unless I upgrade to custom monitors at £500 a pop.Definitely worth every penny of that rather scary looking price!!!A note on the seller, I was concerned when I got these that they were not sold by Amazon. But they arrived very well and the seller seems to be a very good genuine retailer. Judging from their website, which is worth a look.
