The C03U features dual 19mm internal shock mounted diaphragms with switchable omni, cardioid, and figure-8 pick-up patterns. Perfect for recording vocals or any acoustic instrument plus the selectable patterns make it ideal for a variety of specialized recording situations, like multiple vocalists, ambient room miking, and even a group of people around a conference table recording a Podcast. Windows Applet Note: The Windows SoftPre applet supports WDM and is designed to work with Windows XP Service Pack 2. Great with Final Cut Pro on an iMac.
By Ian Allardyce
I'm a freelance TV editor and need to record broadcast and DVD audio straight on to my Final Cut time-line whilst video is playing. This little beauty does it first time. I went to 'Voice Recording' and the CO3U was there first time. Truly plug&play!!The low-pass is also great. Also because it's got a front cardioid pattern you don't have to worry about the sound of your mac which is probably behind the microphone.ONE THING TO WATCH>>>>The wee tripod that comes included is rubbish and my microphone tipped over twice before I realized I needed to put one of the feet forward/underneath (the CO3U is fairly heavy). I hope I haven't damaged anything!!! There's also no where to clip the Pop-screen which I've also bought. Now I'm thinking about getting a proper floor stand.BUT the microphone itself is amazing.

A quality microphone for your recording needs
By D. Allington
I do a lot of recording on my Mac using Garageband, and needed a new mic (I was tired of carrying around an old XLR style mic and a usb converter), and so after having a look at this and the Samson C01U, I bought this one because of the added features, for example, you can flick a switch on the mic to cut out low-frequency buzzing, and another switch adjusts whether the mic is unidirectional, bidirectional or multidirectional). The things that stand-out about it are: the sound quality (excellent), the build quality (nice metal finish and it feels solid), and the ease of use (I just plugged it in and it was ready to use). I've also tried it out on a Windows 7 computer with Audacity, and again there were no problems installing it and the sound quality was great. I haven't tried to use it for recording live gigs (so I don't know how it copes in these situations), but for studio recording and podcasting I can highly recommend it.

Simple setup and excellent recording quality
By James Drake
I'd like to start off by saying I know nothing about how a mic usually is connected to a computer/device to record. This did not stop me from setting the mic up in under a minute. Simply plug the mic into your computer and windows will automatically detect and setup the device. I didn't even need to put a cd in.For the recording itself I installed some free software (Audacity) from the web to allow me to fiddle with the sound after recording. This mic is also very good for dictating to the computer, as that is what I am using it to do right now!
